Q
Why should I choose The
Northwest Fibreglass roofing system when there are cheaper
roof coverings available?
A
First of all, The Northwest Fibreglass roofing system is
not a roof covering, it is a complete roofing system. This
means that your Northwest Fibreglass roofing contractor will
fit a new roof deck of high grade exterior plywood or OSB
sterling board onto which the Fibreglass roofing GRP system
(glassfibre reinforced polyester resin) is applied to form a
seamless membrane that is totally impervious to water. It is
a premium system, that comes with an insurance backed 25
year guarantee. Yes, you can have your roof recovered in
felt for less, but after a few years it will crack at the
seams, blister and let in water again. Also once a roof has
started leaking it will invariably weaken or rot the
substrate. What you get with The Northwest Fibreglass
roofing system is complete peace of mind. Once it’s
installed you never need worry about the roof deteriorating
or leaking again. Also when you consider that your
Fibreglass roofwill outlast felt by a
factor of at least three or four times, it’s clearly an
investment that will save you money over the longer term.
Our home is our biggest investment so we should protect its
value by ensuring that the roof is always structurally sound
and waterproof
Q
How can I stop water
gathering on my flat roof?
A
Water ‘ponding’ is avoided by building in a slight fall
(slope) into your new roof to run off water into the
gutters. Your old roof is most likely covered in stone
chippings, moss and lichen - which all encourage ponding
anyway. There are no stones with The Northwest Fibreglass
roofing system and it doesn’t attract moss or lichen. Even
with your new Northwest Fibreglass roofing system you will
see no ponding and don’t worry, The Northwest Fibreglass
roofing system is totally impervious to water.
Q
What if I sell my home, is
the guarantee transferable?
A
Yes, The Northwest Fibreglass roofing system guarantee is
as watertight as the system itself. It is insurance backed
and independently administered. Should you sell your house
within the 25 year warranty period then let us know and the
guarantee will be transferred into the name of the new owner
– which is added reassurance to them.
Q
What does BBA approval
mean?
A
BBA Certificates have been providing authoritative
and independent information on the performance of
building products for over 35 years. Every BBA
Certificate contains important data on durability,
installation and compliance with Building Regulations
throughout the UK. The Northwest Fibreglass roofing
system uses fibreglass reinforced resins that have been
specially developed for flat roofing. Don’t be taken in
by companies offering cheap fibreglass roofing systems
as they won't be BBA approved and they’ll probably be
using ordinary rigid fibreglass resins – which are not
designed for use on buildings. Chances are they’ll also
be laying onto a chipboard (OSB) deck rather than
exterior grade plywood.
